The U.S. Chamber of Commerce awarded Made in Corpus Christi, from Corpus Christi, Texas as the winner of its Dream Big Women-Owned Business Achievement Award, presented by Spectrum Reach. The annual award celebrates the achievements of small businesses and honors their contributions to America’s economic growth.
The Woman-Owned Business Achievement Award recognizes a women-owned, small business that has attained outstanding business achievement and exemplifies the significant contributions made by women-owned businesses in the country. The business must be at least 51 percent owned or controlled by one or more women who are U.S. residents. The business must also have management and daily operations controlled by at least one woman.
“As a small business owner, it has been incredible to see this vision grow from a single idea into a venture that now employs six people; collaborates with over 30 small, independent businesses; raises funds to donate to local non-profits; and gives an outlet to the immensely talented creatives in our community,” said Nikki Riojas, owner of Made in Corpus Christi.
Award winners were selected by a panel of judges from twenty-seven finalists in consideration for each of the eight Business Achievement Awards and the one Dream Big Small Business of the Year Award.
“Small business owners have faced challenge after challenge, yet the generosity, ingenuity, and determination of this year’s Dream Big finalists and winners prove that small businesses are, and will continue to be, the backbone of our economy and the fabric of our communities,” said Tom Sullivan, U.S. Chamber of Commerce vice president of small business policy. “Through the Dream Big Awards, the U.S. Chamber is proud to honor the very best in American small business – the innovators, dreamers, and doers who despite this year’s obstacles, continue to be a beacon of hope through their actions, contributions, and leadership. Congratulations to Made in Corpus Christi and all of this year’s award winners and finalists.”
Award winners were announced at the Dream Big Awards Ceremony as part of the 2021 virtual event The Big Week for Small Business, which took place October 20-21, 2021.
